LikE’s impact can be seen in books read, supplies delivered, classrooms strengthened, reading scores improved, and students celebrated.
But it can also be seen in quieter moments: a child asking for another book, a student receiving a uniform, a teacher getting a needed classroom tool, a young reader showing up every week, or a child smiling because someone remembered them at Christmas.
Recent Project-Year Highlights
In the most recent project year, LikE:
- Partnered with 2 public schools in Winneba, Ghana
- Served approximately 1,000 students
- Provided 5,000+ school supplies to students and teachers
- Supplied classroom furniture, whiteboards, and teaching aids
- Supported Christmas gifts for children
- Conducted reading clinics and reading assessments
- Recognized 134 students for perfect attendance
- Saw 90.2% of assessed students improve their reading scores
- Recorded a 34.1% overall average increase in reading scores

Reading Growth
LikE’s reading clinics are designed to help children become stronger, more confident readers.
In the latest assessment cycle:
- 225 students were included in the assessment effort
- 76.9% completed both assessments
- 156 students improved their reading scores
- 90.2% of students who completed both assessments improved
- Average reading scores increased by 34.1% overall
These numbers matter because they show more than participation. They show growth.
Growing Engagement
Attendance is one sign that children are connecting with the program.
In one year, perfect-attendance recognition grew from 39 students to 134 students. That increase tells a hopeful story: more children were showing up, staying engaged, and taking part in the reading clinics.
Beyond the Students
LikE’s work has also opened doors for young adults who serve as project assistants.
The story of Emelia and Francesca shows how the project’s impact can reach beyond the children in the classroom. Through their connection to the project, encouragement, and support, Emelia went on to graduate from college, and Francesca completed her freshman year.
This is part of LikE’s wider impact: when a community invests in children, it can also create pathways for the young people helping them learn.
